Macro-Landscapes is a 20 minute film created for large scale viewing in a public space. The images are magnified at approx 200 times their original size - and transition slowly, almost imperceptively via scripted software.
Experimental pychologists Haidt and Kelter (2003) suggest that awe results from two phenomena: perceived vastness and need for mental accommodation. Vastness involves recognizing the incredible complexity and scope of the world in outside the self. Mental accommodation occurs when a new experience cannot be assimilated into current mental structures.
