MetaDome, a Responsive Night Sky, Art Chicago 2007

Overview

MetaDome at Art Chicago provided an opportunity for intimate respite from the bustling atmosphere of the international art fair. Located in the main lobby of Chicago's historic Merchandise Mart, visitors transitioned from the busy intersection of art and commerce to an immersive projection of the night sky.

The calm presence of seated viewers activates the sky, stars slowly migrating into patterns on the dome ceiling that engender individual and communal awareness. Metadome presents a responsive visualization that is simultaneously vast and reflective, exterior and interior, public and private.
