Dr Carlos Duncker

Director of Medical Affairs

Carlos Duncker, M.D., Ph.D. joined Perspectum in September 2018 and serves as Director of Medical Affairs. Prior to joining Perspectum, Dr. Duncker managed the hepatology research site for Texas Digestive Disease Consultants in Dallas for over 3 years, leaving the team as the highest enroller in 2 major NASH clinical trials as well as the site with the lowest screen failure rate across 90% of the numerous liver clinical trials actively enrolling in the US during that time. Dr. Duncker has performed pioneering research into medical imaging for the early diagnosis of bone marrow metastatic disease, imaging of granulocyte accumulation after myocardial reperfusion and differential diagnosis of the thyroid nodule in patients with indeterminate biopsy diagnosis.

Dr. Duncker is a founding member of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, he was a member of the Society of Nuclear Medicine for 25 years, Reviewer for the European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging for 12 years, Medical Advisor to the Mexican National Commission of Nuclear Safety and Safeguards for 10 years, President of the Mexican Thyroid Association, Distinguished Fellow of the American College of Nuclear Medicine and Senior Member of the Mexican Academy of Surgery (Biomedical Engineering). He has authored over 170 medical publications and has given several lectures throughout the world as well as hundreds of other presentations and conferences.

Dr. Duncker earned the title of Doctor of Medicine and Surgery Cum Laude by the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 1990. He was a Research Fellow at The Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions and then moved to Mexico where he continued his clinical and research work at top level National Institutes of Health.
