Perspectum Coverage Support Program

The Perspectum Coverage Support Program assists patients in securing coverage and reimbursement for the LiverMultiScan procedure. This could include approval for a prior-authorization, it required, and/or appeal of a denied claim. These cases are handled through a HIPAA compliant portal on an individualized, case-by-case basis. As always, patients are responsible for co-pays, co-insurance and deductibles.

Policies & Coverage

The American Medical Association (AMA) issued two Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Codes for thePerspectum LiverMultiScan. The following Category III CPT Codes may be reported by physicians, hospitals for outpatient services, IndependentDiagnostic Testing Facilities and Ambulatory Surgery Centers: 0648T and +0649T.

AIM Specialty Health deems LiverMultiScan medically necessary for evaluation of diffuse liver diseases. AIM Specialty Health’s Advanced Imaging Guideline includes the stand-alone CPT Code 0648T used when billing for the LiverMultiScan procedure.

LiverMultiScan is medically necessary for diagnosis and management of any of the following:

  • Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in patients with high risk for cirrhosis due to advanced age, obesity, diabetes, or alanine aminotransferase (ALT) level more than twice the upper limit of normal
  • Other established chronic liver diseases when ultrasound elastography cannot be performed or is nondiagnostic
  • Iron overload in Hemochromatosis
