Dallas, TX., October 4, 2021. More than 100 million people in the United States have liver diseases and thousands die each year from chronic liver disease.  But if diagnosed early it may be possible to halt or even reverse liver disease progression.  Today we are announcing that West Jefferson Medical Center is now offering access to Perspectum’s cutting-edge diagnostic aid LiverMultiScan® to help improve the clinical journey for patients with liver disease.

Patients with metabolic syndrome, which includes those that may be overweight or have type 2 diabetes, are at the highest risk for liver disease.   Many patients do not show obvious symptoms until later stages of the disease.  If left undiagnosed and untreated, liver disease can lead to serious complications such as liver failure, cancer, and the need for a liver transplantation.

LiverMultiScan is a non-invasive precision imaging test that can assess liver health using a comprehensive non-contrast MRI scan.  LiverMultiScan provides three key metrics in one single scan for patients suspected of having Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) and Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH).

Louisiana ranks high in the nation for liver cancer diagnoses, according to Dr. Michael D’Antonio, a radiologist at West Jefferson Medical Center.  “Having sophisticated technology will help us change this statistic one patient at a time.  LiverMultiscan optimizes the delivery of our care, so we can have advanced images of the liver – allowing for early detection, diagnosis and treatment options for patients.”  The addition of this technology will help a comprehensive team of radiologists deliver state of the art, patient-centered care.

With a focus on precision medicine and using advanced imaging, Perspectum empowers patients and clinicians with vital information that enables early detection, diagnosis, and monitoring of targeted treatments.

“Liver disease is a growing epidemic impacting the lives of millions of Americans.  Through this partnership we will enhance care delivery by providing a proprietary imaging solution to aid in the early diagnosis and treatment of liver disease, which supports Perspectum’s goal of enabling and leading the way to patient driven care,”  says Teresa Mattarelli, CCO, Perspectum.

“We are proud to collaborate with Perspectum in delivering this specialized care to meet the increasing needs of our community, says Rob Calhoun, President & CEO of West Jefferson Medical Center.  “Our investment in the latest diagnostic technology solidifies our promise to shape a healthier future for patients and families in our region.”
